An Elmhurst College student is accused of committing a hate crime after carving anti-African-American slurs at a dormitory.

Prosecutors say Myles Burton of Libertyville carved "KKK" and two racial epithets into a window ledge at the college.

It happened back on December 8, but he was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday.

If convicted of a felony hate crime charge, Burton could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
