Americans keeping their cars longer

Analysts at Polk say the average vehicle on U.S. roads is just under 11 years old.

That's the highest average age of a car driven by Americans since Polk started tracking vehicle age back in 1995.

That year, the average age of a car was just over eight years old.

The findings are based on vehicle registration numbers.

Polk says Americans are keeping their cars longer for many reasons, including the economy and improved vehicle reliability.
