Spirit Airlines adds $2 'unintended consequences fee'

Spirit Airlines says new federal regulations to protect consumers have forced the addition of $2 to the price of each ticket. Spirit is calling the fee the "Department of Transportation Unintended Consequences Fee."

The new regulations to protect consumers allow passengers to change flights within 24 hours after booking a ticket without a penalty.

Spirit Airlines says the rule forces it to hold a seat for someone who may not use it and keeps the company from selling it to someone else.
