The Chicago Teachers Union filed charges with the Equal Employment Opportunity commission Wednesday on behalf of four African-American teachers.

The union claims there is a huge racial disparity in the number of teachers laid off as part of the Chicago board of education's 2011 layoff policy.

The union also alleges that layoffs were twice as likely to occur at schools with larger populations of African-American students.

The case seeks restitution for 365 African-American teachers who were laid off.
