Workers stage sit-in at window factory

A sit-in took place Thursday night at the same Chicago window factory occupied by workers more than three years ago.

California- based Serious Energy bought Republic Windows and Doors in 2009 and retooled the plant. Now the company says it's closing the factory and eliminating 46 jobs. The company says demand for window products is way down and it's costing too much to keep the factory open.

The facility became a symbol of the plight of American workers in late 2008 as employees briefly occupied the building because the previous owner shut down without notice or paying final checks.
