The owner of a suburban restaurant has pleaded guilty to arson in connection with an explosion and fire at the business.

It happened in October 2008 at Gigi's restaurant in Naperville.

Peter Ladias, 72, was about to go on trial but the Sun-Times reports he entered a guilty plea during a hearing Tuesday.

Prosecutors say the restaurant was experiencing financial problems at the time of the fire.

Ladias faces up to seven years in prison when he is sentenced on May 24.
