Study finds dramatic rise in lifespan of Americans

There has been a dramatic rise in the lifespan of Americans, and it's mainly due to factors such as better medical care and declines in smoking rates, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control's National Center for Health Statistics.

Authors say while death of course is inevitable for everyone, this analysis found the average American's overall risk of dying at a given point in time dropped 60 percent since 1935. They add overall the improvement in mortality has been significant over the last 75 years.
