3 charged in West Side store robbery

Three men appeared in bond court Saturday on charges in connection with the armed robbery of a store and a police shoot out in Chicago's West Side Austin neighborhood.

Leevon Carter, 21, Richie Cole, 19, and Omar Young, 23, are charged with armed robbery with a firearm.

Chicago police say they arrived at the store during a robbery Wednesday night in the 5100-block of West Lake Street. According to investigators, the suspects pointed weapons at the officers, who then fired shots.

No police officers were hurt.

Carter and Young were ordered held on bond of $500,000 a piece, according to the Cook County Sheriff's website. Bond information for Cole was not immediately available.
