A little bit of alcohol could give some men an advantage in their recovery following a heart attack.

Men who are moderate drinkers may continue to consume one or two alcoholic beverages a day after a heart attack. A study from the European Heart Journal indicates this may help them live longer than heavy drinkers or non-drinkers who have had a heart attack.

Doctors say moderate amounts of alcohol may also boost levels of good cholesterol. It may make blood less likely to clot and reduce levels of inflammation in the body.
