Mayor Rahm Emanuel has appointed a task force to figure out what to do with the land after 2 Chicago power plants are shut down.

Residents who live near the Fisk and Crawford power plants in the Little Village and Pilsen communities have complained about the pollution for years.

The plants will stop operations by 2014. They had been scheduled to stay open through 2018.

Mayor Emanuel helped negotiate the deal to shut the plants early.

The task force will include representatives from the community, City Council, ComEd, labor unions and City Hall.
