Report: Joliet prison could serve as NATO detention facility

An old shut down prison in Joliet might serve as a temporary detention facility for those arrested during the NATO summit next month.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported Sunday that Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart is considering the former Joliet Correctional Center as an option for NATO protestors arrested for serious offenses.

That's the prison featured in the 1980 film "The Blues Brothers."

The viablity of using the closed prison as a functional detention facility hasn't been determined.

The Sun-Times reported that police officials are investigating whether or not the prison has electricity or running water.

No final decisions have been made.
