A proposed city council resolution could reduce the number of suspensions and expulsions at Chicago Public Schools.

It calls on school officials to change the way they discipline students.

Aldermen want schools to use so-called restorative justice instead of resorting to suspensions and expulsions.

A city council committee passed the resolution, which now goes before the entire city council.
