65-year-old Scott Clark of Lake Forest and 82-year-old Paul Sanfilippo of Grayslake were killed in the single-engine crash. A caller to 911 was very calm after seeing the plane go down near Virginia Rd.
"A low-flying plane just went right over me and crashed in the low area right off Virginia," said the 911 caller.
The plane was heading to the Lake in the Hills airport, about a quarter mile away.
Federal investigators are still trying to determine what caused the crash.
