Chicago police sergeant honored at White House

President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano welcomed the officers for the ceremony in the White House Rose Garden.

The men and women are 2012 National Association of Police Organizations top cops award winners.

One of those honored was Chicago Police Sergeant Don Jerome. He responded to an armed robbery in progress and found six people, including three children bound and gagged.

Jerome was then attacked by two men.

He was able to overpower and arrest one of the men after they both crashed through a glass window.
