Researchers testing laxative-free colon scan

Researchers are now testing a laxative free colon scan. The hope is it will get more people to get screened in this country.

New findings suggest CT colonography is almost as good at identifying certain polyps as a traditional colonoscopy.

Doctors tested a CT colonography without asking patients to take a laxative. Instead people were told to reduce their fiber intake.

Scientists say the results of their study in the Annals of Internal Medicine open the door to a more patient-friendly screening.

But this virtual procedure is not ready for primetime just yet.
