Researchers testing laxative-free colon scan

New findings suggest CT colonography is almost as good at identifying certain polyps as a traditional colonoscopy.

Doctors tested a CT colonography without asking patients to take a laxative. Instead people were told to reduce their fiber intake.

Scientists say the results of their study in the Annals of Internal Medicine open the door to a more patient-friendly screening.

But this virtual procedure is not ready for primetime just yet.
