Chicago police say one man was killed and another was wounded in an attempted robbery in the 7100-block of South Western Avenue.

The men reportedly were trying to get into a vehicle late Monday after shopping at a Walgreens when an armed suspect tried to rob them then opened fire.

Willie Stallworth, 31, died, and his 54-year-old uncle was transported to a hospital in critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

The deadly shooting came just 10 minutes after two people were shot a mile away in the 6400-block of South Claremont.

No one was in custody for either shooting early Tuesday.
