Degree awarded to youngest-ever University of Chicago Medical School graduate

June 8, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Among this year's graduates is Sho Yano, who started his medical training at the age of 12.

Sho is the youngest student to receive an MD in the University of Chicago's history.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel was the keynote speaker and spoke about what he has learned from his brother and father, who are both doctors.

"Even doctors don't always have the right answers," said Emanuel. "For the rest of your life, your success will be shaped by being open to what you don't know. Your openness to different ideas and different approaches will make you a better doctor."

Emanuel also reminded them about the importance of humility and joked that it's a work in progress for him.
