Hundreds gather in Federal Plaza for religious rally

June 8, 2012 (CHICAGO)

A small band entertained the crowd gathered in Federal Plaza before the speeches began.

The rally was held to protest a measure in the Affordable Care Act of 2010 which requires religious institutions that provide health care insurance to employees cover contraception. Religious leaders said that violated their religious freedom.

The Obama administration has since announced a compromise, where the insurance company, not employers such as catholic universities or hospitals would pay for birth control.
