Statues stolen from Waukegan library

June 9, 2012 (WAUKEGAN, Ill.)

The two statues taken were The Little Scholar, which portrays a young boy reading a book while propped on his knees and elbow and Imagine That, which shows a girl reading while sitting atop a stack of books next to a soccer ball.

Police say the statues were taken on or around May 31.

They say the thieves chipped away the field stone bases of the statues, which were bolted into the concrete.

Library officials say both piece are insured.
