2 missing Lansing boys found safe

June 11, 2012 (LANSING, Ill.)

The boys were reported missing Saturday from their home in Lansing.

While relatives were out searching for 13-year-old Charles and 10-year-old David Surratt, the two apparently returned to their empty home at some point.

The family noticed boxes of cereal and blankets were missing.

Police put the word out to neighbors to be on the lookout.

Monday, Lisa Campbell realized her grandson had been playing with the boys yesterday.

She called police when they returned to her house this morning.

"I opened the door let them in said their name they're going to hate me but they're home safe and that's the main thing," she said.

The boys told Campbell's grandson they were staying at this building, which they called their clubhouse.
