A couple left-lane ramps on the Eisenhower Expressway may move to the right under a plan to improve safety access to the Ike at Austin and Harlem.

An Illinois Department of Transportation spokesman tells the Chicago Tribune that left side ramps have a 49 percent higher rate of crashes than right-side ramps.

The eight-mile stretch of i-290 between Mannheim Rd. and Cicero Ave. has 2,000 crashes a year.
