Storm knocks down power lines, trees

June 16, 2012

Downpours rolled through some of the northern suburbs between Palatine and Winnetka

Wind gusts knocked down power lines and numerous trees -- including a large pine tree in Northbrook that blew over onto a street.

"It was a nasty storm it only lasted five minutes or 10 minutes, and we came out here and this 43-year-old pine tree, 42 feet long was down," said homeowner Stacy Cavallari.

At least one of the downed power lines could be seen burning on the ground for a time. Nobody was injured.
