Hot flashes may not signal heart trouble

Northwestern University scientists say the one exception may be if hot flashes persist for many years after the onset of menopause or if they start many years after menopause begins.

Also, another study finds women who undergo menopause before age 46 are twice as likely to suffer a heart attack or a stroke.

Doctors reporting in Menopause Online say women at risk should keep their cholesterol and blood pressure in check.
