Tribune: Quinn to use prison savings to offset DCFS budget cut

June 29, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The governor's office confirmed Friday a report by the Chicago Tribune.

The report said Quinn says he will veto spending allocated by lawmakers to some prisons he intends to shut down.

Barring Quinn's action, DCFS could see cuts to about 12 percent of its workforce and could also see eliminations of contracts providing services, according to the report.
