A Miami lifeguard was fired after he rescued a drowning man.

Tommy Lopez works for a privately run lifeguard company. They look over a specific section of Hallandale Beach. The 21-year-old helped a swimmer just outside that section.

After saving the man, Lopez was fired. A company spokesperson says, "We have liability issues and can't go out of the protected area."

Several of Lopez's fellow lifeguards have quit in a show of support.
