Woman suing Melrose Park go-kart track, claims she was severely burned by engine

July 18, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Tiffany Bernhardt claims she was severely burned when her body touched an engine block on a go-kart at Melrose Park Indoor Grand Prix.

In her suit, Bernhardt states that track employees should never have allowed her to ride because of her size and weight.

The suit also claims the facility failed to instruct her on safety procedures.

A company spokesperson responded, saying, the Grand Prix requires all guests to sign a waiver and undergo a safety briefing before going onto the track. According to the suit, the incident happened at the facility's previous location in July 2010.
