The queen of Chicago's 2012 Columbus Day Parade was crowned Sunday night.

She is 18-year old Olivia Smaniotto from Western Springs.

ABC7's Ryan Chiaverini was the master of ceremonies at Sunday night's pageant in Addison.

All the contestants are of Italian-American heritage.

Smaniotto and her court will reign over the Columbus Day Parade to be held on October 8.

Columbus Day celebrates the anniversary that explorer Christopher Columbus arrived in America.
