Bear inside Sears store at Pittsburgh Mills mall

July 23, 2012 (PITTSBURGH)

On Saturday, witnesses say the bear used one of the automated doors and ran into a Sears store inside the Pittsburgh Mills Mall.

The 120-pound black bear cub was roaming around the store and sent customers running for safety.

The entire mall was evacuated and wildlife conservation officers shot the bear with a tranquilizer gun.

At one point they had it trapped between the double doors, but before the drugs could set in, the little bear got back into the store. It eventually fell asleep and was taken away.

Animal experts say they have never seen this particular situation before.

Officials say the bear was wearing a tracking collar, but they couldn't determine where it came from.

There were no reports of injuries.
