Chicago cop saves baby's life on Skyway

July 29, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Officer Edward Pakula was on patrol Saturday when he noticed a man trying to flag him down by a McDonald's parking lot.

The man told the officer his 21-month-old baby had stopped breathing.

So Pakula jumped in and gave the infant CPR.

The officer says his fatherly instinct kicked in.

"I have a 29-month old at home," he said. "So that hit a little close to home for me. I really didn't too much think about it."

Officer Pakula says the baby was treated and released and is recovering at home tonight.
