Riders rescued from stuck 'Superman' roller coaster at California Six Flags park

July 30, 2012 (VALLEJO, Calif.)

The ''Superman Ultimate Flight'' ride opened just one month ago at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo.

The roller coaster got stuck Sunday, leaving riders stranded 150 feet in the air for two hours. It stopped at the tallest point in the ride with the riders seated upright.

Firefighters hoisted a crane to try and rescue them, but it was too short.

A mechanic was eventually able to restart the ride.
