Rally held for beaten WWII veteran

July 31, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The inner-city Muslim Action Network held a rally in the 2500 block on West 71st Street for Porter Cross.

The 87-year old was attacked near 71st and Claremont.

The suspects were arrested thanks to two good Samaritans.

Porter says he doesn't remember what happened.

"I didn't see anybody," he said. "All of a sudden it went black."

"Words cannot express how grateful we are that these young people are off the street," said Cynthia Steward Jones.

Twenty-year-old Rashon Williams and two teenagers are charged in the beating.
