The person of interest, a 20-year-old man, was taken into custody without incident Tuesday morning, authorities said.
According to police, the man was identified as the alleged gunman in Haynes' shooting death.
The 22-year-old basketball player was shot multiple times last Thursday as he tried to break up a fight over a necklace. Haynes was recently recruited to play Division 1 basketball for Iona College in New York.
