The Illinois Department of Agriculture and students from Chicago Agriculture High School promoted the Buy Illinois Challenge at Eli's Cheesecake in Chicago on Thursday.

The Buy Illinois Challenge aims to encourage residents to buy products made in Illinois.

The goal is to encourage each household in the state to spend $10 per week on Illinois products.

State officials estimate this could generate almost $2.5 billion for the state economy.
