A retrospective study now finds that young men who took the drug Propecia for hair loss and experienced its sexual side effects also had high rates of depressive symptoms.

This continued even after stopping the drug according to the study online in the journal of clinical psychology.

Scientists say the symptoms were moderate to severe in 64 percent of the former Propecia users.

Emerging evidence has shown that in some men despite what was previously thought the adverse sexual side effects persist.

The Food and Drug Administration recently amended the drug's labeling to reflect greater concern about these problems.
