Gov. Quinn donates campaign money to buy food for striking Caterpillar workers' families

August 10, 2012 (JOLIET, Ill.)

Quinn visited them on a picket line in Joliet Friday.

The donation will go to a drive to buy food for the families of striking workers.

The governor made no promise to help settle the labor dispute, but said he wanted to show his support for the workers and their families.

"We believe that 'Made in Illinois' and 'Made in America,' those are our favorite words," said Quinn. "We believe in the workers of Illinois to do things better than the whole world."

The strike began May 1.

Contract talks have been stalled since the end of June.
