Preschoolers who can concentrate may do better in college

Being able to concentrate and follow directions may be even more critical to a child's success than academic abilities, according to the study by Oregon State University.

This research comes in response to the push to teach children early academic skills.

The study emphasizes that it is much more important for a child to be able to pay attention and finish tasks by the age of four rather than be able to read or solve math problems.
