More kids downing sugar-free, diet drinks

According to a report in the American Journal Of Clinical Nutrition, the number of U.S. children who drink sugar-free beverages has doubled in the past decade. But the health implications of the trend, if any, are unclear.

More adults are also opting for diet drinks. Researchers say it's not surprising to see such trends, but the size of the increase among kids was a bit unexpected.

The findings are based on more than 42,000 Americans who took part in a federal health survey.
