Emergency crews responded Tuesday morning to the CTA Blue Line station at Grand and Milwaukee after smoke was reported in the subway.

Chicago fire and police department officials were on the scene, and CTA passengers could be seen exiting the subway through the regular entrance.

It was not clear immediately if those passengers were leaving on their own or if they were being evacuated. However, more passengers were being allowed back in shortly after 6 a.m., and the situation appeared to be returning to normal.
