Police say Daniel Proctor, the ex-husband of missing Florida middle school teacher Amy Patterson, told them they could find a body near the home he and his ex-wife once shared.

Police set up a tent of operations after finding remains Wednesday, and forensics teams spent the day excavating the remains, which was then turned over to the medical examiner's office.

After Patterson disappeared in July of 2011, Proctor went on the run. He was located September 5 in Okeechobee, Fla.

Lee County, Fla., sheriff's detectives were recently in Alabama to testify in Proctor's trial, where he received a life sentence for theft charges.
