Hurricane Isaac could bring clouds, rain to Chicago for weekend

August 28, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Isaac became a hurricane Tuesday morning when winds reached 75 mph, prompting some evacuations around the Gulf Coast. Landfall is forecasted in southeast Louisiana Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

"This is going to have far reaching effects. Not just in New Orleans," ABC 7 Meteorologist Tracy Butler said. "But the entire southeast up for grabs as for the brunt of it."

Tornadoes are possible in Mississippi and Florida, where heavy rains are already falling.

Hurricane Isaac could potentially impact Chicago later this week, according to Butler.

"Maybe as early as Friday with some clouds," Butler said. "They could possibly even extend into Saturday with some rain. They could possibly even extend into early the day on Sunday."
