Speakers stressed the connection between faith and labor, saying the two share similar core values.
Union members also spoke out to ask for support during ongoing labor talks.
"But whatever happens we cannot do our work on our own," said Al Ramirez. "Whether you agree with our politics or not, I believe that our cause is just and necessary."
The Chicago Teachers Union has set a potential strike date for September 10.
