In Washington State, a man fatally shot by police last week has been identified as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army who was from Chicago.

Prince Gavin, 29, was shot in Tacoma.

He was stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Gavin was shot Friday afternoon in a confrontation with officers.

A police spokesperson says at the time Gavin had a gun in his hand and was running toward a house.

It was not clear if he threatened officers with the gun.

Police say he had been involved in a domestic dispute elsewhere in the city.
