They say a man tried to kidnap a 14-year-old girl Wednesday morning in the 4600 block of S. Kedzie.
According to police, the man tried to grab the girl by her backpack. She managed to get away.
Police describe the suspect as being a Hispanic male 30 to 40 years old and between 5 ft. 5 inches and 5 ft. 7 inches, with a black mustache and missing front teeth.
Police have released a sketch of him.
The girl was not hurt in the incident.
The Guardian Angels were out Friday warning residents and escorting children to school.
Police are asking anyone with information to step forward.
