'Mary Todd Lincoln' arrives for insanity trial

September 23, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The Mary Todd Lincoln actress arrived by horse drawn carriage Sunday.

She was accompanied by her attorney.

Her re-trial on insanity charges will be conducted under modern laws and heard by actual judges and attorneys.

In 1875 after erratic behavior the real Mrs. Lincoln was committed to an asylum in Batavia, almost exactly ten years after her husband's assassination.

She was released soon after.
