North Chicago VA medical center evacuated after red powder explodes in worker's face; FBI investigating

September 24, 2012 (NORTH CHICAGO, Ill.)

The employee was shredding a document when what is believed to be red chili powder was released into the air.

The powder was contained inside a letter sent to the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center.

Forty-five people were evacuated from the center.

One person has been hospitalized.

The FBI is investigating.
