Mayor Rahm Emanuel introduced the "Sustainable Chicago" guidebook Tuesday.

It outlines the city's plans for environmental stewardship in the coming years as well as the economic development that comes with it.

"This plan with seven clear areas, from mass transit to water to recycling to fuel efficiency, is an integrated approach, including climate change, but it widens the perspective from both going green to a job growth strategy," said Mayor Emanuel.

The goals include establishing Chicago as a hub for the growing sustainable economy and improving citywide energy efficiency.
