Last month, a double decker Megabus was headed from Chicago to Kansas City. It was traveling Interstate 55 when it crashed into the pillar near Litchfield, south of Springfield.
Aditi Avhad's parents are suing for wrongful death of their 25-year-old daughter.
A Megabus spokesperson says the incident remains under investigation and the company is cooperating with investigators.
Avhad was a graduate student at the University of Missouri.
