In a ''stand down'' ordered by the US Army, soldiers around the world put aside their usual duties to participate in suicide prevention training on Thursday.

The Army has seen an increase in suicides, with 116 soldier suicides on record during the first half of 2012 alone.

The training focuses on ensuring soldiers are aware of the health programs that are available.
