Barkapalooza

On Sunday, September 30, 2012, the West Suburban Humane Society (www.wshs-dg.org) wants to find homes for a few dogs with is 19th annual fundraiser, the "Barkapalooza Dog Walkathon and Pet Expo." (Barkapalooza.org) Lana McKenna, Controller/ Treasurer and WSHS spokesperson, and Amy Gogolin, Development Director of the WSHS, came into our ABC7 studio with two adoptable dogs to tell us about the event and share tips if you're looking to adopt a dog.

    Criteria for adopting a dog
  • Temperament first
  • Don't worry too much about breed
  • Don't worry about adopting an adult dog
  • Tell the shelter what you are looking for and listen to their advice
  • Be honest with yourself about how much time you have to work with the dog

Adult registration fee: $15

Children 12 and younger: Free

Registration fee waived for walkers with $100 or more in collected pledges

Fundraising is not necessary to attend Barkapalooza, but it is welcomed and encouraged.
