Illinois residents turned in old and unwanted medications at hundreds of locations on Saturday.

Residents dumped old medicine at more than 200 sites across the state as part of the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration's national Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Officials say the drugs were then inactivated and burned.

They say the drugs will not end up in rivers or lakes.
